Marseille’s match was called off after fans from Nice stormed the field and got into a brawl.

During the brawl, players were pelted with bottles, and punches were thrown. Marseille’s Ligue 1 match against Nice was called off on Sunday because the visitors refused to leave the changing room after Nice fans entered the pitch and started a brawl. Following a brief interruption of play, the referee blew the final whistle in the 75th minute, with only the Nice players insight, and Marseille was handed an automatic 3-0 defeat awaiting further review, according to Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) rules. In the build-up to the fracas, fans attacked Marseille players with items, and when forward Dimitri Payet retaliated after being struck near the corner flag, fans charged the playing surface.
