Frank Lampard has announced that Benoit Badiashile will be sidelined for an extended period of time, rather than just a few weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained during training last week.
Badiashile, who was signed for £33m from Monaco in January underwent a specialist assessment of his injury this week revealing a more severe condition than initially anticipated.
While there are concerns that he might miss the beginning of the pre-season and the start of the Mauricio Pochettino era, an exact timeline for the centre-back’s recovery has not yet been determined.
Lampard said: “It’s a big blow for him and I’m really disappointed with him. He’s come here and impressed. The games before he got injured I was very happy with him.”
“The injury is unfortunate and very complicated in his hamstring and we’re talking months rather than weeks unfortunately.”
“Hopefully the time over the summer means he’s not missing games and he comes back stronger.”
He also adds that Mason Mount, Reece James, and Ben Chillwell will also be out for Thursday’s trip to Manchester United.
