Heartland FC newly appointed coach Emmanuel Amuneke has promised to restore the Owerri club to their past glory.
Amuneke will work directly with the Executive Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, to lift ‘The Naze Millionaires’.
Heartland were relegated from the NPFL this past season, but are widely expected to play in the top league in the new season after buying the slot of Beyond Limits FA.
In the 90s as Iwuanyanwu Nationale, the club dominated Nigerian football.
Amuneke told Governor Uzodimma:
“Your Excellency, I am promising you on behalf of myself and the entire Heartland FC that we are going to do our best to ensure Heartland return to their former enviable position.
“I am someone with objective and I do not involve myself in something that I am not capable of doing.
“I remember when I was unveiled as the coach of Tanzania, one of the things I told them was that we will qualify for the AFCON 2019.
“But everybody thought it was a joke, but eventually we were able to qualify them for the AFCON for the first after 39 years.
“Please be rest assured that we will make sure that with your support, we will take Heartland FC back to where they used to be.”
