Arsenal are set to table a £44 million bid for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, a move that could finally meet Atalanta’s asking price.
The 27-year-old winger, born in London, has been offered to Arsenal by an agent representing Atalanta. Mikel Arteta’s side view him as an alternative to top target Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace.
According to 90 Minutes, the Gunners’ proposed offer, worth over €59 million, aligns with Atalanta’s valuation of between €50 million and €60 million.
Arsenal’s Advantage Over Inter Milan
While Inter Milan have already agreed personal terms with Lookman on a five-year deal, they have yet to agree on a transfer fee with Atalanta. The Italian side’s reluctance to sell to a domestic rival gives Arsenal a clear advantage in negotiations.
A move to the Emirates would also mark a homecoming for Lookman, who grew up in London before starting his professional career.
Lookman’s Current Situation
Reports suggest Lookman has stayed away from Atalanta’s training sessions, opting instead to spend time at a holiday resort between Spain and Portugal. This stand-off could accelerate transfer talks in the coming days.
Last season, Lookman enjoyed a standout campaign in Serie A and the Europa League, further enhancing his value in the market.
