Atletico Madrid has finalized an agreement with Manchester City to acquire striker Julian Alvarez for a potential €95 million, pending the completion of personal terms.
Julian Alvarez ‘s transfer will set a new record sale for the Premier League champions, who have experienced an unusually quiet transfer window this year.
Julian Alvarez, 24, is set to depart from Manchester City after a successful two-and-a-half-year stint at the Etihad Stadium. His move to Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid will mark his third summer acquisition for the Spanish club, following the arrivals of Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad and Alexander Sorloth from Villareal.
In addition to bolstering their attack with Alvarez, Atletico Madrid is also pursuing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher as part of Simeone’s strategy to build a competitive squad for the La Liga title.
During his time with Manchester City, Alvarez made 54 appearances, netting 19 goals and providing 13 assists. He was instrumental in City’s historic treble-winning season, contributing to their Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup triumphs.
On the international stage, Alvarez has also enjoyed significant success with the Argentina national team, winning the 2022 World Cup, two Copa Americas, and earning 36 caps.
As Atletico Madrid gears up for the upcoming season, the addition of Alvarez represents a significant investment in their quest for domestic and European glory.
