Atletico Madrid set Joao Felix price as Arsenal and Manchester United step-up interest

Arsenal and Manchester United are in the market for a striker and have both indicated interest in Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix.

The Portuguese striker – who was part of Portugal’s World Cup squad in Qatar 2022, has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid. However, according to the Daily Mirror the Spanish side are demanding £9.5 million ($10.8m) for a loan deal with an obligation to buy for £70.5m during the summer.

Manchester United lost Cristiano Ronaldo, who departed for Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr after the World Cup. Arsenal on the other hand are without Gabriel Jesus who suffered an injury during the Mundial.

Manchester United have submitted an initial offer of £3.5 million for a loan deal and the player’s agent – Jorge Mendes presented the offer to Atletico on Thursday. But the initial offer was rejected with the Spanish side demanding about thrice what was offered.

The 23-year-old joined Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a club record fee, but has seen his stock dip in his three years at the club. The former Benfica striker has had a falling-out with Diego Simeone and is keen on moving elsewhere this January.

Arsenal are also looking at bringing in Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, while Manchester United have been linked to Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst.
