Bayern Munich have appointed Vincent Kompany as their new head coach on a three-year contract.
Bayern Munich named Vincent Kompany as the new coach of the German giants on a three-year contract on Wednesday.
The Belgian joins Bayern Munich after a stint with Burnley, during which he led the team to win the Championship in the 2022-23 season.
Despite the success, Burnley was relegated from the Premier League this season, finishing in 19th place. The move comes after both clubs agreed on a compensation fee for Kompany’s departure.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge at FC Bayern,” Kompany said on Wednesday.
“As a coach, you have to stand for who you are as a person: I love having possession of the ball, being creative and we also have to be aggressive on the pitch and brave”.
“I’m now looking forward to the most basic things: working with the players, building a team. When the foundation is in place, success will follow,” he added.
