Chelsea fans rage at Timo Werner transfer fee

The disclosure of further information on Timo Werner’s transfer fee has angered Chelsea supporters.

After a miserable two years at Stamford Bridge, the German is expected to re-sign for Bundesliga powerhouses RB Leipzig, with the Blues expected to suffer a significant financial hit on the misfiring attacker.

Following Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Inter Milan on loan, Timo Werner is expected to leave Chelsea and become the second high-profile striker to do so this summer. Both players are preparing for a World Cup campaign later this year, but neither fit well with manager Thomas Tuchel’s style.

Timo Werner reportedly accepted a hefty pay cut to sign with RB Leipzig, where he scored an incredible 95 goals in 159 games from 2016 to 2020.
According to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano, the Blues would initially receive £17 million for the 26-year-old, a small sum compared to the £45 million they paid for his services.

Fans of the London club have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction at the sale of the forward for such a measly sum.

The Blues are still in the market for a striker with recent reports linking them to former Arsenal forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
