Chelsea are preparing a fresh approach for Alejandro Garnacho after Manchester United made it clear the Argentine winger is available for transfer.
The 21-year-old has fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim, with their relationship reportedly collapsing after a Europa League final loss to Tottenham. Garnacho was left out of United’s final game of the season against Aston Villa, sparking rumours of an inevitable exit.
United have slapped a £40m (€46m) price tag on the forward – a figure Chelsea are willing to meet.
Why Chelsea Want Him
With Noni Madueke close to joining Arsenal, manager Enzo Maresca wants Garnacho to fill the gap on the right wing.
Chelsea have already added Liam Delap, João Pedro, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens to their forward line but plan further reinforcements. Garnacho’s 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 games last season make him an ideal option to inject pace and creativity.
The Blues are also planning to offload Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, and João Félix, creating both squad space and funds for a new signing.
Competition for Garnacho
While Chelsea are leading the race, Aston Villa and Napoli have also shown interest. Garnacho, however, reportedly prefers a Champions League club, giving Chelsea an edge.
He has already rejected an offer from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, despite the Saudi side offering a lucrative deal.
What Went Wrong at United?
Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford unraveled after:
A heated fallout with Amorim over commitment levels.
A public social media post wearing a Villa shirt with Rashford’s name.
Being humiliated in front of teammates after the Europa League final.
United now want a clean break and are open to selling him this summer.
