Hervé Renard has made his grand return to the sidelines of the Saudi Arabian national team replacing Roberto Mancini, who was dismissed on account of unsatisfactory results.
The Frenchman who was previously in talks with the NFF for the vacant role of head coach of the Super Eagles team had previously led the Green Falcons to the 2022 World Cup, where he achieved a remarkable feat by defeating Argentina in the group stage.
It is believed that the Saudi football federation has again placed its trust in Hervé Renard to continue the ambitious project of developing their national football.
The former coach of the Ivorian national team and Morocco‘s Atlas Lions resumes control of the Saudi team with a new objective: to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and reach new heights on the international stage.
It is worth noting that the ‘White Wizard’ is well-acquainted with Saudi football and its peculiarities. However, he will face new challenges, particularly in managing a constantly evolving group of players and adapting to the demands of an increasingly competitive landscape.
For reference, the French coach, who led Saudi Arabia to the 2022 World Cup, left his position after the tournament to take charge of the French women’s national team. Unfortunately, with the French women’s side, Hervé Renard was unable to achieve his goal of winning the 2023 World Cup in Australia, as well as the Olympic Games.
Thus, now free since the French women’s team was eliminated in the quarter-finals of both competitions, Hervé Renard, whose name had been mentioned in relation to African national teams such as Nigeria and Senegal recently, opted to return to Saudi Arabia.
