Graham Potter agrees to Chelsea deal following Tuchel’s sacking

In the wake of Chelsea ‘s 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb and six games into the new Premier League season, Tuchel was fired on Wednesday.

With Chelsea’s board and Todd in search of a replacement, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Graham Potter has agreed to take charge of Chelsea.

It is believed that the 47-year-old opened talks with Chelsea and has verbally agreed to take charge and shook hands on the deal, with paperwork now being drawn up as reported by Fabrizio Romano via his Twitter page.

Potter had cancelled his scheduled Brighton press conference on Thursday and is now expected to be appointed by Chelsea before the weekend.

Now that the deal’s finer points have been worked out, his backroom team’s composition will also be discussed. Chelsea is hoping that Potter will be available to lead the team against Fulham on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane and Sporting CP boss, Ruben Amorim were also identified as possible contenders for the vacant role, but it appears the Englishman has the edge.
