Cristiano Ronaldo has surpassed Lionel Messi as the highest-paid footballer in the world, according to Forbes. During the 2021-22 season, the Manchester United star is expected to earn $125 million (£91.5 million) before taxes, with $70 million (£51.25 million) coming from his salary and bonuses for his return to Old Trafford. Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar of PSG complete the top four. This season, the top ten highest-paid footballers are expected to earn roughly $585 million (£428 million), up from £471 million the previous seasons.
