Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media ahead of the trip south to the Ammex stadium.
Reports suggest that Darwin Nunez could be out for the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon after missing out on some training sessions with the first-team squad.
The Reds boss addressed the forward’s absence from recent training sessions in his press conference yesterday afternoon and confirmed that the Uruguayan’s availability is in doubt.
He said of Nunez:
“If he cannot train today, then yes, that will rule him out”.
“We are waiting for information. It’s not a major one but it still kept him out of training. We have to wait for that”.
It’s unclear at this point if Núñez was able to train with the squad, but it does seem likely that the Reds will be without him when they kick off tomorrow.
This will leave Mohamed Salah and the recently signed Cody Gakpo as the only available senior forwards for the match as Roberto Firmino is still sidelined.
The German manager also hinted that Milner and Stefan Bajcetic are back in the mix for the Merseysiders.
Speaking on how ready he is to come against his opponents, Klopp added: “Brighton deserve respect”.
“I don’t think anyone underestimates them anymore but who would have thought their possession stats would increase after Graham Potter left?”
