Real Madrid star and Croatian International Luka Modric, is now confirmed to be sidelined for 8 to 10 days with a muscle strain in his hip since returning from international duty with Croatia, reports Marca.
During the international break, the Real Madrid player appeared in both of his national team’s matches, playing 90 minutes each in both, hence, helping them qualify for the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.
Spanish Journalist José Luis Sánchez, reports that Madrid hopes he will be able to participate in El Clásico on October 16th.
The news was confirmed on Wednesday. Tests have determined that he is suffering from a hip problem, which will rule him out for around a week.
He will miss the matches against Osasuna (2 October), Shakhtar Donetsk (5 October) and Getafe (8 October), and it is hoped that he will be able to play against Shakhtar on 11 October in order to be in the best possible condition for El Clásico against Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Modric played in Croatia’s two Nations League group matches against Denmark and Austria. With the victory over Austria, Croatia booked their place in the Nations League finals.
