Mo Salah returns to Liverpool early despite Egypt’s clash with Liberia

Mo Salah has returned from international duty with Egypt to prepare for Liverpool's weekend tie with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Mo Salah had been with the Egyptian national team for over a week, scoring twice in their 3 – 0 win over Niger on Friday. Despite Egypt having a match against Liberia on Tuesday, the 30-year-old has been permitted by the Egyptian FA to return to Merseyside.

A statement from the Egyptian FA said: “The technical staff of the Egyptian national team preferred to rest Mohamed Salah and Mostafa Mohamed for the Liberia friendly after both took part in the previous match against Niger.”

The early return of Mo Salah bodes well for Jurgen Klopp’s side who currently sit eighth on the Premier League standings with just two wins in six matches.

The Merseyside club welcomes Brighton & Hove Albion to Anfield on Saturday afternoon. The Seagulls will be hoping to build on their impressive start despite the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea. They currently sit fourth on the table and new coach Roberto De Zerbi will be keen to make a good first impression.
