Chelsea has confirmed that their Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been provisionally suspended following the detection of a banned substance during a routine urine test.
The club released an official statement addressing the situation, reaffirming their support for the player and the ongoing investigation.
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk concerning an adverse finding in a routine urine test,” the statement read.
The club emphasized their commitment to The FA’s testing programme and clarified that Mudryk is tested regularly, along with the rest of the squad. They added that the Ukrainian winger has categorically denied knowingly using any banned substances.
“Both Mykhailo and the Club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding,” the statement continued, before concluding that no further comments would be made at this time.
Mudryk released a statement some minutes ago;
“I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to The FA contained a banned substance”.
“This has come as a complete shock as I have NEVER knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened”.
“I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon”.
Mudryk’s suspension comes as a shock, with fans and pundits now waiting for further updates on the investigation. For now, Chelsea stands firmly behind their player as the case unfolds.
Mykhailo Mudryk could face a four-year ban after testing positive in a doping test. The ‘B’ sample should confirm or invalidate the results.
