Newcastle turn attention to more than affordable Taiwo Awoniyi

According to reports by Bild, Taiwo Awoniyi is on the Newcastle United radar ahead of the Summer Transfer Window and Union Berlin could be willing to sell him.

The striker spent most of his formative years at Liverpool after announcing himself at the 2013 U-17 World Cup, where he impressed with eventual winners Nigeria.

After spending six years with Liverpool without making any senior appearance for the Reds and a series of loan spells, he was sold to Union Berlin last summer.

In 36 appearances across all competitions this season, the striker has 17 goals and has provided a further four assists.

His performances have drawn the attention of clubs around Europe and it has been revealed that Newcastle are one of the clubs willing to submit a bid for the 24 year-old.

Union Berlin price the forward at £21m which makes him very affordable for Eddie Howe’s side.
