The Albion midfielder is arguably in the form of his life after scoring five goals and bagging two assists this season. In 13 matches this term, the 31-year-old has equalled his combined goalscoring tally for the previous two campaigns combined and seems to be going from strength to strength.
The German has bagged seven goals in his last 16 matches, and has turned provider on three occasions as well in that period. Gross is playing week in and week out for the Seagulls but a call-up for his country still eludes him.
The former FC Ingolstadt star was capped at under-18 and under-19 level but national boss Hansi Flick has not decided to pick the experienced midfielder. Now, Tolga Dirican, Gross’ agent, says the Brighton hero should be going to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Germany.
“Pascal [Gross] has been impressing in England for years with outstanding performances in the best league in the world,” he told Transfermarkt.de, via Sport Witness.
“In the current season, too, he is consistently delivering performances at a very high level. I would like to see his performances rewarded in Germany as well.
“In my opinion, Pascal deserves to go to the World Cup in Qatar with the German national team with his performances, skills, and humility.”
According to The Athletic, Germany will name their World Cup squad on Thursday, November 10, so Gross may only have one more match to stake a claim to be on the plane to Qatar. The Albion take on Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
