Anthony Martial in talks to extend contract with Man United

Anthony Martial could extend his stay at Manchester United after head coach Erik ten Hag admitted the club are in talks with the Frenchman over a contract extension.

Manehster United forward Anthony Martial and and the club have resumed talks to extend the player’s contract confirms Erik Ten Hag.

Martial, 28, has made 13 Premier League appearances this season, scoring just once and starting only five times.

Since joining in 2015, in a deal worth almost £50million making him the most expensive teenager at the time, the striker has made just over 300 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring just 63 pl goals and struggling to make a lasting impact for the English giants over nine years later.

Speaking during his press conference on Thursday, Ten Hag claimed the former Monaco man and the club are in discussions.

“We are talking with Rafael Varane, with Anthony Martial. It is an internal discussion between the club and the player”.

The 30-cap international has shown glimpses of his quality during his time at Old Trafford, most notably scoring a delightful goal on his debut against Liverpool.

He also had a hand in helping United win the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup while working under six different managers.

Despite Ten Hag’s revelation, TalkSPORT suggest the Red Devils will opt not to extend the Frenchman’s deal, which would open the door for a free exit this summer.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is edging closer to a return to Borussia Dortmund, with Manchester Evening News reporting a deal between the two clubs is almost agreed.
