Raheem Sterling faces possible ban as FA investigates footage from Tottenham derby chaos.

A social media clip suggests England winger Raheem Sterling threw an object into the stands during the 4-1 win at Spurs.

After appearing to toss an item back into the Tottenham fans during Chelsea’s 4-1 win victory on Monday night, Raheem Sterling might be suspended.

The Football Association (FA) is looking into video that was posted on Chelsea’s own TikTok account and showed Cole Palmer being struck in the leg by an object following his penalty-induced equalizer.

The incident occurred moments after Cole Palmer had brought the Blues level from the penalty spot in the first half following Cristian Romero’s red card for an ugly lunge on Enzo Fernandez.

Palmer celebrated with a finger to his lips in front of Spurs fans, receiving congratulations from teammates, including Sterling, who appeared to bend and toss an object into the crowd before rejoining his teammates as play resumed.

Officials were not aware of the occurrence, but it is currently being investigated to see whether any action is required.

Tottenham forward Richarlison was previously given a one-match suspension for tossing a lit flare back into the crowd during an Everton victory over Chelsea in May 2022.

In 2008, Didier Drogba received a three-match ban for hurling a coin at Burnley fans after a Carabao Cup defeat.

Sterling excelled during Chelsea’s win setting up the vital second goal that finally broke through a resolute nine-man Spurs defense.

Nicolas Jackson scored a hat-trick in an ugly derby that saw Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie sent off.

The Premier League match between Chelsea and Sterling’s old team, Manchester City, is scheduled for this Sunday. However, any punishment is more likely to occur during the international break.

After the international break, the Blues visit Newcastle at St. James’ Park. They then play Brighton at home then go to Manchester United once again.
