Trent Alexander-Arnold drops hint over future with Real Madrid lurking

Fabrizio Romano reported that Real Madrid are keeping a watch on the fullback with contract talks yet to open between player and club.

The England international’s current Liverpool deal expires in 2025 and there have been suggestions the right-back could possibly make a move away from the club amid uncertainty over his future.

In some claims made last week via Fabrizio Romano’s page, the player might be looking to make a move to Real Madrid this summer, leaving altogether with manager Jurgen Klopp.

The clams solidified Madrid’s interest in the Fullback’s situation, as they are looking prepared to build on a permanent replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Naturally, given the defender’s importance to Liverpool, a new contract is likely to be offered to the player, who has long stressed an intention to remain at Anfield for the rest of his career.

Back in 2018, Alexander-Arnold insisted in an interview with The Times that he wanted to stay at Liverpool for the duration of his career.

“There is nowhere else I’d rather be than Liverpool.”

“Somewhere I want to stay for the rest of my career is Liverpool. It’s what I’ve always dreamed of. Liverpool are special.”

“It’s completely down to the fans. Whether we are winning or losing we always have their love”, he said.

In the same interview, he outlined his ambitions to one day wear the captain’s armband at Liverpool.

“I want to become captain one day. That’s definitely a dream of mine.”

“I hope with dedication, the right advice and the hard work that still needs to be put in that one day I might achieve that dream of becoming captain, something that me and my family will be very proud of if it comes.”

However in a more recent news, Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside spoke on The Debrief podcast affirming the interest of Real Madrid in the fullback’s situation.

“Now, it is also true, from what I am told that Real Madrid have a concrete interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold,” the journalist said

“They are monitoring his situation. At the moment there is no direct contact with his agent or with the player because it is still too early. So Real Madrid are closely following the situation.”

“Let’s see the next steps. At the moment, from what I am hearing, there is no concrete negotiation between Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold. That is why Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation.”

Romano went on to add: “I think in next weeks, April, May, it will be important to understand if the new structure at Liverpool, with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, will move to offer a new deal to Trent Alexander-Arnold and how this conversation will go.”

The vice skipper had been enjoying a productive campaign before picking up a knee injury, registering 12 goal contributions in 29 games (across all competitions).
