Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema ruled out of Madrid derby

Real Madrid will be without superstar player Karim Benzema when they face off local rivals, Atlético Madrid at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium.

The France international picked up a thigh injury against Celtic in the Champions League on September 6, which forced him to sit out matches with Mallorca and RB Leipzig

Although it seemed as though Benzema would make it in time for the derby after regularly communicating with the team’s physiotherapist in a bid to to overcome the injury in time, Ancelotti confirmed while speaking during his press conference on Saturday that the 34-year-old would not be available for Real Madrid until after the international break.

“Benzema will not be ready for the match, he has started to work individually. He will have the break in order to come back after. I am clear on the plan,” the Italian boss told reporters.

Real Madrid and Karim Benzema have now decided to continue with the current programme and let the striker rest and recover before he can make a return to on-field action after the international break when they lock horns with CA Osasuna.
