Ruben Amorim has declared his ambition to remain as Manchester United manager for the next 20 years, despite a turbulent debut season at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese coach replaced Erik ten Hag in November 2024, but United endured their worst campaign in over five decades — finishing 15th in the Premier League with just seven wins in 27 matches under Amorim.

Still, in a candid interview with ESPN, the 39-year-old insists he remains fully committed to turning things around.

“I want to stay for 20 years. That’s my goal, and I really believe in that,” Amorim said.

He acknowledged the challenges but remained optimistic about the future.

“I know I did not succeed last year, but I am ready to start again. Something will happen — it always does. Sometimes I’ll get lucky. I’ve been very lucky in my coaching career.”

Amorim, known for his attacking philosophy and youth development success at Sporting CP, believes Manchester United has all the tools needed to rise again.

“Some things you cannot buy with money — the history, the supporters. But we also have money, even without Champions League games,” he added.

Amorim’s confidence comes as United fans brace for a critical new season where the club must show progress. With new signings and a reset in mindset, the upcoming campaign could define Amorim’s future at Old Trafford.
