Benin currently sit second in Group D with seven points, just two ahead of third-placed Rwanda, and will be facing Libya away today.
Spittler emphasized the importance of the encounter, stating, “We have to win to go to the AFCON, that’s our mission.” He added, “We are here for the three points, we will fight until the last minute.”
The two sides previously met in Kigali in September, where the match ended in a 0-0 draw, a result that Rwanda will be looking to build on. Despite the challenge that Nigeria presents, Spittler remains confident. “We played a good match in Kigali,” he said. “It will be a tough and interesting match.”
In an interesting twist, both teams will face each other again in March when the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume, ensuring an ongoing rivalry between the two sides.
