According to Cristiano Ronaldo, the Saudi Pro League is of higher quality than Major League Soccer in North America.
In what could be interpreted as a subtle jab to Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that the Major League Soccer is inferior to the Saudi Pro League.
Shortly after Messi’s official signing with Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami, Ronaldo claimed that the Saudi Arabian league he currently plays in is superior to MLS.
The experienced Portuguese forward, joined Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League earlier this year after leaving Manchester United
Ronaldo said on Monday according to Lisbon sports newspaper:
“Returning to Europe, for me, is a closed possibility, I’m already 38 1/2 years old and … it’s not worth it”.
“Europe lost a lot of quality. The only one that is one of the best is the Premier League, the Spanish league lost its level, the Portuguese one is not ‘top,’ the German one also lost a lot of quality. The USA? No, the Saudi championship is much better than the USA.”
“In one year, more and more top players will come to Saudi. In a year the Saudi league will overtake the Turkish league and Dutch league.” he added
Following Ronaldo’s arrival, the league has successfully lured several international stars, including Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante from France, Roberto Firmino from Brazil, Edouard Mendy from Senegal, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Serbia, and Marcelo Brozovic from Croatia.
