Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke has been sidelined with a thigh injury, Spanish La Liga club Sevilla confirmed on Friday.
The Andalusian club announced the development via their official X handle ahead of their friendly match against Olympique Marseille. Ejuke will play no part in the match due to the injury setback.
“Ejuke suffers a thigh injury, ruling him out of tonight’s match against Marseille. Get well soon, Chidi!” the club posted.
The 26-year-old winger joined Sevilla as a free agent last summer and made an impact in his first campaign. He featured in 25 La Liga matches, scoring two goals and providing one assist during the 2024/25 season.
His performances earned him the Sevilla Player of the Month award in September 2024, shortly after arriving at the club.
Sevilla barely avoided relegation last season, finishing 17th with 41 points, just one point above the drop zone. They’ll be hoping Ejuke returns swiftly to full fitness and can play a key role in a stronger campaign this year.
No timeline has yet been provided for the Nigerian’s recovery, but the club is expected to release further updates after additional medical assessments.
