Spurs to battle with Man United for the services of Jan Oblak

Jan Oblak
Tottenham Hotspur have identified Jan Oblak as the long-term successor to Hugo Lloris.

Lloris has been at Spurs for over a decade establishing himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. The France international turns 36 in December and Spurs are already making plans for the future.

The Evening Standard reports that Jan Oblak is the top target, and the London side have already made contacts with him.

However, Manchester United are also interested in his services in case David de Gea leaves the club.

The Slovenian shot-stopper is a highly rated goalkeeper, having won La Liga’s Zamora Trophy for the keeper with the best goal per game ratio five times.

Oblak originally had a release clause of £107 million but this has since been lowered. Furthermore, while his contract with Atletico Madrid still runs till 2028, the Spanish side will consider selling him for the right fee.

Jan Oblak joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica in 2014 as a replacement to Thibaut Courtois.
