Frank Onyeka Hints at Brentford Return After Standout Season on Loan at Augsburg

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has offered insight into his future plans following the end of his loan spell at Bundesliga side FC Augsburg. The 27-year-old, who moved on loan from Brentford last summer, says he’s focused on returning to the Gtech Community Stadium to stake a claim under a new head coach.

Onyeka joined Augsburg in a bid to secure more regular playing time, and the move paid off. The former Midtjylland star made 30 starts in all competitions, cementing his place as a key player for the German club.

However, Augsburg opted not to make the loan permanent, prompting Onyeka to look ahead to the next chapter in his Premier League journey.

What Frank Onyeka Said About His Future

Speaking to Soccernet, Onyeka shared his hopes for a fresh start at Brentford following the managerial change. Thomas Frank, who had limited Onyeka’s opportunities at the club, has since moved on to become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager.

“The aim right now is to go back to Brentford,” Onyeka said.
“I don’t know who the new coach is. So I have to speak to him to know what is going on. And then, we can take it from there.”

His comments suggest optimism about working with a new manager and a clean slate to reestablish himself in Brentford’s midfield setup.

A Balanced Life Off the Pitch

Away from football, Onyeka has also been enjoying some well-earned family time. The Super Eagles star was recently spotted on vacation with his wife Mmesoma Akaolisa and their young son at a luxury resort.

Photos of Onyeka walking hand-in-hand with his son have gone viral, showcasing the midfielder’s softer side. In another photo, he posed with his wife in an elegantly decorated elevator, highlighting the couple’s stylish presence off the pitch.

What’s Next for Onyeka?

With the summer transfer window open and Brentford preparing for life under a new manager, Frank Onyeka’s Brentford return could be one of the most interesting internal developments at the club. Given his strong Bundesliga form, the Nigerian midfielder might just get the chance to cement a regular starting role in West London next season.
