Nigeria’s Super Eagles have remained in 39th position globally and 6th in Africa in the latest FIFA rankings, following their performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Despite securing four points from their recent matches, the team’s position in the rankings has not changed.
The Super Eagles earned a convincing 3-0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin and followed it up with a goalless draw against the Amavubi of Rwanda. However, these results had little impact on their standing in FIFA’s updated rankings, released on Thursday morning.
Nigeria’s placement as the 6th-best team in Africa sees them trailing behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, and Tunisia. The next opportunity for the Super Eagles to improve their ranking will come during the upcoming AFCON qualifier in October.
