Tottenham faces setback as striker Richarlison sidelined for up to a month

Totteham Hotspur Striker Richarlison is out for one month

Tottenham Hotspur’s striker Richarlison faces a potential month-long absence due to a knee issue, manager Ange Postecoglou revealed on Friday, dealing yet another blow to their quest for a top-four position.

Richarlison, who had been in excellent form with 11 goals, including 10 in the Premier League, sustained the injury during a recent 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“Richarlison will be out for three to four weeks due to a knee injury he picked up in the last game,” Postecoglou informed reporters ahead of the upcoming match against Crystal Palace.

“It’s disappointing as he’s been a crucial contributor, but that’s been the pattern of our season—progress followed by setbacks that we need to overcome.”

Postecoglou also disclosed that Ryan Sessegnon underwent surgery on his right hamstring this week, facing further setbacks due to recurring muscle injuries.

Despite the challenges, Postecoglou remains optimistic, highlighting Sessegnon’s resilience and positive mindset.

Meanwhile, there’s potential for left-back Destiny Udogie to return from a knee injury after showing promising signs in training.

However, right-back Pedro Porro requires an additional week to recover from a strain.

Reflecting on the season’s disruptions, particularly after a weekend without a match due to Chelsea‘s involvement in the League Cup final, Postecoglou acknowledged the irregular rhythm faced by Spurs.

However, he remains hopeful for consistency in the upcoming fixtures, aiming to regain momentum until the season’s end.
