Tottenham have been told that a sum of £39 million would be the proposal that would see them secure Feyenoord star striker Santiago Gimenez in the forthcoming transfer window, according to reports. It comes as the north London outfit looks to bolster their ranks in the coming months.
Many people did not expect the season to start so well under new coach Ange Postecoglou. Despite a disappointing EFL Cup exit early on at the hands of Marco Silva’s side, Fulham, the Australian coach has led the team to the top of the Premier League by playing attacking football that has won over the fans.
Despite losing all-time club’s leading goal scorer, Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer, the transition has gone well thus far, though his impact undoubtedly will be missed at times.
Thus, this concludes that the focus will once again be on the market and how the squad can sign another striker to replace the current assets available in the squad.
After a strong start to the season for the Dutch club, Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez has been linked with a number of clubs. With 13 goals and 3 assists in 10 Eredivisie games, the forward has piqued the interest of a number of teams.
Spurs have shown a considerable interest in the player, as per a report from Fabrizio Romano on his daily briefing that the club may already have a rough price tag too.
“Something in the region of £39million could be the right fee to make it happen,” the journalist claimed. “From what I’m told, Tottenham scouts have been following the player already last year.”
”They saw that Gimenez is a very good striker… Decisions will be made in the next months.”
“It’s something that will have to be pondered over, with the 22-year-old showing plenty of promise but with no guarantee there could be a return there at the very highest level.”
For the time being, the search for a Kane replacement continues, but the team appears to be doing well and could acquire even more firepower in the near future.
