Two France stars summoned for doping test after performance in the World Cup semi-final victory

Both Jules Kounde and Liverpool's Ibrahim Konate were summoned to carry out a random drug test after helping their side reach the World Cup final.

Two of France’s World Cup heroes Jules Kounde and Ibrahim Konate missed out on the post-match celebrations as they were summoned for a drug test just after the 2 – 0 win over Morocco.

Didier Deschamps’ side defeated Morocco 2-0 to set up a final against Argentina on Sunday at Lusail Stadium, thanks to goals from Theo Hernandez and second-half substitute Randal Kolo Muani.

The result means the reigning world champions are just one win away from defending their coveted crown and winning the World Cup for the third time.

While the majority of Les Blues’ stars were able to celebrate into the night, it was a very different story for Konate and Kounde. The two defenders were randomly selected for doping tests and missed out on the post-game party.

Konate was drafted into the side for the match against Morocco after first-choice center back Dayot Upamecano was ruled out injured.

The Liverpool ace stepped up and performed exceptionally alongside Manchester United‘s Raphael Varane as France were forced keep their opponents at bay.

The 23-year-old center back posted a video of himself and Kounde doing the appropriate doping tests on his Instagram page. While Konate can be heard saying, “We can’t even celebrate,” the FC Barcelona man replied, “It sucks,” expressing their displeasure with the FIFA Anti-Doping Committee for postponing their joyous moment.
