Valencia have completed the signing of Edinson Cavani on a free transfer.
Following his release at the end of the 2021/22 season, the former Manchester United player has decided to put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Spanish side coached by Gennaro Gattuso. Cavani scored nineteen goals for the Red Devils in the last two seasons, although he saw his playing time limited last year due to an injury and the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 35-year-old was previously linked with possible moves to Villarreal and Real Sociedad but he opted to join Los Che to fulfil his desire of playing in Spain.
Cavani will play for the first time with a La Liga club after turning down offers from Atlético Madrid and Villarreal, who were reportedly closer to signing him a couple of weeks back. The club confirmed the deal ahead of last night’s clash with Atletico Madrid.
Cavani is expected to join up with his new teammates later this week and he could be in contention to make his debut against Getafe this weekend.
