Victor Boniface, the Super Eagles striker, may not have found the net during his UEFA Champions League debut, but he still expressed immense pride in the experience.
Starting for Bayer Leverkusen, Boniface contributed to a dominant 4-0 victory against Feyenoord.
Reflecting on his journey, the Akure-born forward shared on X,
“From paying 30 Naira to watch Champions League football back then in 323 Barrack Akure to playing my first Champions League game. Proud of this moment.”
Last season, Boniface struggled to make an impact, recording only one shot on target and two off-target efforts before being substituted for Patrick Schick in the 62nd minute. Despite this, he finished as the fifth-highest goal scorer in the Europa League, and he now looks forward to opening his Champions League account.
As Boniface continues to develop his game on this prestigious stage, fans and teammates alike will be eager to see him find the back of the net in future matches.
