The Turkish champions, led by Victor Osimhen got off to a winning start in the Europa League with a 3-1 victory over Greek heavyweights PAOK at the Rams Park on Wednesday night.
The Nigerian striker was involved in two goals for his side, with one credited as an own goal from a header which was deflected into the net by a PAOK defender.
He was replaced by Mauro Icardi, who then put the game to bed with a third goal in injury time, killing off a spirited fightback by the Greek side in a means to snatch a late equaliser.
Despite not scoring, Victor Osimhen has yet again contributed to goals for the Turkish club in his recent appearances as he continues to work his way to full match fitness after missing an entire pre-season of football at Napoli.
However, the Napoli loanee has now assured he will be among the goals before long.
“Unfortunately, it was counted as an own goal again,” he commented after the Europa League clash against PAOK.
“I feel my first goal is very close. Helping the team and the team winning is more important. My goal will come.”
“We need to continue winning in the league and in Europe.”
