WAFCON 2025: Nnadozie Labels Botswana Clash a ‘Cup Final’ as Super Falcons Aim for Quarters
Super Falcons star goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has declared that tonight’s WAFCON 2025 Group B clash against Botswana will be like a “cup final”, as Nigeria chase a spot in the quarterfinals of the continental championship in Morocco.
The highly anticipated fixture kicks off at 8 PM (WAT) tonight in Casablanca, where the Falcons are based for the tournament.
Nnadozie: We’re Ready to Win Again
Speaking ahead of the crucial tie, Nnadozie acknowledged Botswana’s urgency after their 1-0 loss to Algeria in the opening match. However, she remains confident Nigeria can repeat their group-stage victory from 2022, where the Falcons triumphed 2-0.
“It will not be an easy game, especially since Botswana lost their first match to Algeria,” said Nnadozie. “In 2022, we beat them 2-0 in the group stage, so this feels like a cup final, and we hope to win again.”
Group B Standings and Key Fixtures
After their dominant opening win, the Super Falcons top Group B with three points and a superior goal difference over Algeria, who sit second. Botswana and Tunisia are yet to earn a point.
Before Nigeria vs Botswana, Tunisia will face Algeria at 5 PM, setting the stage for a dramatic group reshuffle depending on tonight’s results.
What’s at Stake
