Wilfred Ndidi back playing after long-term injury, Osimhen returns to full team training

Nigerian-born midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has finally returned to on-field action after a couple of months out due to a muscular injury, while his countryman Victor Osimhen will be hoping he finally beat the recurring injury due to fatigue accumulated from the Nations Cup.

Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi resumed training in February after a muscle injury ruled him out of play for over two months, including the African Nations Cup tournament.

The Super Eagles star has not played since featuring in the Foxes 2-0 win at Cardiff last December, with his return to field duties scheduled much earlier than anticipated.

On his return from injury, the Leicester City man helped secure a 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light, marking a beautiful day with an outstanding second-half performance to put Leicester City three points clear at the top of the championship table.

Fellow countryman Victor Osimhen, who has been struggling with abdominal pain since returning from the AFCON, returned to full-team training ahead of a crucial clash against Torino tomorrow night.

There were rumours the Nigerian forward caught an injury in the Serie A clash with Juventus over the weekend, but those speculations look to have died down after the club reported he is set to make an appearance against Torino.

During the match against the Old Ladies, the 25-year-old missed a penalty for the home side; however, he ensured he helped his side take the crown on the night at the Diego Maradona stadium.

Osimhen would be looking to put away his penalty miss against Juventus and return to scoring ways against Torino tomorrow night.

With the exception of the match against Juventus, Osimhen has found the net in all the games he has played in for Napoli in 2024 since returning from the AFCON.

All things being equal, Osimhen should be named in Napoli’s gameday squad versus Torino before heading to Spain for a huge Champions League match with Barcelona.

While both Osimhen and Ndidi’s return and importance to their respective clubs cannot be overstated, both player’s returns are expected to strengthen their sides ahead of the crucial end to the season.
