Barcelona are aware that a sizable investment will be required next summer in order to replace an exit-bound Sergio Busquets. Real Soceidad’s Martin Zubimendi is reportedly the Catalan giants’ top priority in this regard.
As previously reported, the Blaugrana have already gotten in touch with Zubimendi’s agents to determine whether or not a move next summer is realistic.
Zubimendi’s current deal with Real Sociedad runs until 2025, and if Barcelona wants to exercise the option, they will need to pay his €60 million release clause.
Barcelona’s worries are undoubtedly not over yet because Sociedad is currently exploring the possibility of extending his stay, which would not only increase his wages but also increase his release clause.
Zubimendi – who has one assist in La Liga this season comes with a heavy price tag, but SPORT reports that he remains top priority for Barcelona.
Xavi and his support team are impressed with his handling of the ball in the middle of the park. Zubimendi has also demonstrated leadership qualities despite his youth, which Barcelona will need as we approach the 2023–24 season.
Barcelona believe that Martin Zubimendi, like Busquets, can bring a great balance to the team because of his physical strength and ability to win the ball in one-on-one situations.
Barcelona have been long time admirers of Zubimendi. In fact, it has come to light that he has been on the Blaugrana’s radar for some time, but the team feels that this is the ideal moment to get him.
