A statement by the Royal Air Maroc on Wednesday reads:
“Following the latest restrictions imposed by the Qatari authorities, Royal Air Maroc regrets to inform customers of the cancellation of their flights operated by Qatar Airways.”
Royal Air Maroc had initially said it would provide 30 additional flights to help fans watch the semi-final live in Qatar, but the airline could only schedule 14 flights.
The media team for the Qatari government have failed to comment on the situation.
The national airline has promised to reimburse air tickets and apologized to customers.
Morocco became the first African team to reach the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup after defeating Portugal 1 – 0 in the quarter-final.
Their semi-final match is against defending champions France.
