Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr has completed the signing of Sadio Mane for £34m from Bayern Munich having already added the likes of Seko Fofana, Marcelo Brozovic and Alex Telles this summer.
The 31-year-old will join up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, David Ospina, Anderson Talisca and a bunch of other European players in the squad for the coming season.
The forward only moved to Bayern for £35m last year, but struggled to settle in Germany with his performance – a mix of highs and lows.
Leaving Anfield last summer, Mane settled in quickly in Munich, notching 11 goals across all competitions by November. However, his season took a turn when a serious injury before the 2022 World Cup sidelined him for three months, forcing him to miss the tournament for Senegal in Qatar.
Upon his return, he managed to score only one additional goal for the campaign struggling to reclaim his starting position amidst managerial changes as Julian Nagelsmann was replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
The situation further raised questions about his future at Bayern when he was dropped and fined for reportedly punching his teammate Leroy Sane in the face after a 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League in April.
“We want to thank Sadio Mane for the past season,” wrote Bayern chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen.
“It certainly wasn’t an easy year for him, getting injured just before the World Cup and being unable to take part in it with Senegal, who he’d previously led to a first triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualification.”
“Because of his long lay-off, he also couldn’t have the impact at FC Bayern that we all and he himself had hoped for. That’s why we came to the joint decision that he’ll begin a new chapter in his career and make a new start at a different club.”
“We wish him all the best and lots of success for the challenges ahead at Al Nassr.”
