Defence crisis hits South Africa ahead of World cup qualifiers game against Super Eagles

In full confidence, coach Broos have watered down the worries concerning his team's defence crisis and believes the Bafana Bafana are ready to face the super eagles on Friday.

The senior national team of South Africa are facing a crisis situation in defence ahead of Friday’s Africa cup of Nations qualifiers game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Head coach of the Bafana Bafana, Hugo Broos is confident his team will get a favourable result in Uyo despite being without the services of one of his most experienced and reliable defender, Grant Kekana.

Kekana was key to their run at the AFCON where they ended up as bronze medal winners with a defeat to Nigeria via spot kicks denying them a chance of a first final appearance since 1998.

In his place, Broos will be forced to turn to Nkosinati Sibisi who incidentally did not have much playing time at his club, Orlando Pirate.

On Friday, Sibisi is likely to pair with Mothobi Mvala at the heart of Bafana Bafana’s defence. Sibisi played just 310 munites in the league for Pirates, making only two starts within that period.

“I’d like to thank the coach [Bross] for having the confidence in me,” Sibisi said during the Bafana Bafana’s media conference.
