CAF suspends AFCON second-leg fixture between Nigeria and Libya

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended the return leg fixture between Super Eagles of Nigeria and their Mediterranean counterparts, Libya in a first attempt to resolving the recent saga.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has began taking steps towards ensuring that justice is preserved and complete adherence of the Laws of the Game is upheld.

Following a 1-0 victory over Libya in Uyo, the Super Eagles headed out to Libya for the return leg which would have sealed their spot at the tournament next year should they have finished victorious. But the unlikely, unexpected and unsportsmanlike conduct by the Libyan FA led to the game being boycott by the Nigerian contingent.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, though the Nigerian Football Federation has therefore issued a complaint to the African Football governing body with details of their ordeal at an abandoned airport where they were held hostage for over 16hours without food and water, 48 hours before the game.

CAF has now reacted by first taking out the proposed fixture, originally meant to be played later today, from their social media page. It becomes the fist step taken by continental body which disproves the claims by LFF that the game against Nigeria should go on as a walkover in the absence of the Nigerian team.
