Marcus Rashford has revealed his intention to leave Manchester United, marking the end of a nine year association with the club he broke into as an academy player.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Henry Winter on X, Rashford admitted he feels ready for a fresh chapter.
“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford stated. “When I leave, it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings.’ You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.”
The 27-year-old added that he plans to handle his departure from Manchester United professionally.
“If I know that a situation is already bad, I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past, and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I’ll make a statement, and it will be from me.”
Rashford was left out of the squad for Sunday’s Manchester derby, a 2-1 win at the Etihad. Manager Ruben Amorim denied disciplinary issues were behind the decision, saying, “It’s important to say it was not a disciplinary thing. Next week, next game, new life, and they are fighting for places.”
Despite being omitted, Rashford stayed focused. “It’s disheartening to be left out of a derby, but it’s happened. We won the game, so let’s move on,” he said.
Rashford also addressed criticism of his professionalism, including recent scrutiny for attending an NBA game during the international break.
“I feel misunderstood,” he admitted but emphasized he has “no regrets” over his nine years at United.
Ballgist Nigeria understands that the interview came as a shock to all associated with Manchester United. Ruben Amorim is set for a press conference later today and will address Rashford’s comment then.
As Rashford eyes a return to the England squad under Thomas Tuchel for the 2026 world cup, fans and critics alike awaits the next chapter in his career.
