Harry Maguire Reflects on Gradual Return to Form After FA Cup Matchwinner

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has shared his thoughts on his gradual return to form, following his match-winning goal in the club’s 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night.

Maguire’s header secured United’s progression to the next stage of the competition at Old Trafford, and the England international expressed his satisfaction with taking his chance in the crucial moment. Reflecting on his journey, Maguire revealed that despite facing a difficult period, he has maintained a positive mindset and worked hard to regain his place in the team.

“I feel like I’ve been in a good place for 18 months to two years,” Maguire stated after the match. “There’s no doubt I had a difficult spell, I kept my head down, I knew my chance would come and when the chance came I needed to be ready and focused to take it. I’ve been given a lot of opportunities over the last 18 months and I’ve played pretty much every game when I’ve been available.”

However, Maguire emphasized that his focus is not solely on individual achievements but rather on the success of the team. “It’s not just about me, it’s more importantly about the team and winning football matches and trying to get this club back to where it should be,” he added. “At the moment we’re not where we should be but tonight is a good win to get through to the next round and we look forward to the next round.”
