Napoli, the newly crowned Serie A champions, are already plotting big moves for next season’s UEFA Champions League campaign.
With Antonio Conte set to stay in charge, the club is aggressively pursuing top-tier talents; most notably Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.
Transfer news around Italy suggests that Lookman is Napoli’s top priority this summer. The Atalanta forward is coming off a stellar season notching 20 goals and six assists across all competitions and is now being backed as a more impactful signing than Portugal international Leao.
Football analyst and former Napoli midfielder Dario Marcolin explained why he believes Lookman is the smarter pick. Speaking on Radio Marte, Marcolin didn’t hold back:
“Between the two wingers, I would take Lookman,” he said. “Leao is strong and could thrive under Conte’s system, but Lookman offers more versatility.”
He emphasized Lookman’s tactical range and direct threat.
“The Atalanta star plays multiple roles. He’s decisive in tight spaces, dangerous in one-on-one duels, and delivers goals consistently.”
Lookman, recently named African Player of the Year, has been instrumental in Atalanta’s rise in the football rankings. His explosive pace, sharp instincts, and strong finishing make him a perfect fit for Napoli’s high-pressing game.
We’re only four days into the transfer window, and the drama is just beginning. With plenty of moves still to unfold, Napoli’s pursuit of Ademola Lookman could set the tone for a thrilling summer of signings.
