Manchester United duo Anthony Elanga and Scott McTominay insist they are both fully focused on impressing their new manager Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman has effectively already started work as the new United manager this week after he took charge of former club Ajax for the last time at the weekend.
Ten Hag is set for a busy first summer in charge at Old Trafford and will need to get to work quickly if he is to get his squad in shape ahead of the early start to the next Premier League season.
Elanga and McTominay both hope to form a key part of the squad under the former Ajax manager, and they have both been doing their research ahead of meeting him for the first time.
“You can see the way they were playing in the Champions League, not only this season but prior to this season, the way they have done in the leagues,” Elanga told Sky Sports of Ten Hag’s credentials.
“He has got a fantastic record in Europe and the way he has developed young players, players that I have played against in the youth team as well as in the national team. I have got kind of an idea of what he can bring to the team, and I am really excited to work with him.”
When asked if he had spoken to fellow professionals about what to expect from the new United manager, Elanga added: “I have actually! I have spoken to some of those players, when I played against them in the U17 Euros, so I have had a chat with them. All positive.”
McTominay has also been doing his homework on the manager and admits he will need to work extremely hard this summer to impress the Dutchman.
The Scotland international added: “Your switch off time is your holiday with your family, but even then I am still thinking ‘I need to train, I need to go and do some stuff’ to make sure I am in peak condition for the new coach.
“You never switch off, like even when you are on holiday it is not like go to wherever with your family, you are still thinking about coming back and having the best possible impact on the new coach.”
