The two female national team rivals will play off for a place at the summer Olympics in Paris after they both came through their third-round qualifiers as expected.
Nigeria eliminated Cameroon, while South Africa saw off Tanzania to stay in the reckoning for one of two African tickets to the women’s football event in Paris 2024.
“It will be do or die (vs Nigeria),” coach Ellis declared after her team pipped Tanzania 1-0 at home Tuesday night to go through to the playoffs 4-0 on aggregate.
The CAF Coach of the Year said her team will plan for an early training camp to give them a bigger chance against the nine-time African champions.
“We want to have an early camp, we will improve our chances when we prepare early and very well,” she said.
Match winner against Tanzania at home and captain Thembi Kgatlana said the team are fired up to qualify for the Olympics after they failed to do so for the last summer games.
