The 18-year-old, Vitor Roque has signed a contract with the Catalan club till the conclusion of the 2030–31 season, according to reports.
After acquiring free agents Inigo Martinez and Ilkay Gundogan this summer, Roque is Barca’s third new addition. He is expected to join up with his new teammates next summer.
Roque attracted Barca’s attention after excelling for Brazil’s youth teams and Athletico.
Last year, he assisted his team in reaching the Copa Libertadores final, and most recently, he was awarded his first senior cap for his nation. In 65 games for Athletico, the forward has scored 22 goals, including six in his last six matches.
“Goals,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday when asked what Barca can expect from Roque.
“He very much has his own style. You can’t really compare him with [retired Brazil strikers] Ronaldo or Romario. He is someone that is deadly with both feet inside the box”.
“He is different to what we have had here before. If you had to compare him to anyone, it would be Ronaldo, who was a force of nature with us. [Roque] has bags of potential, is young, powerful and Brazilian.”
