Chelsea has officially completed the signing of French forward, Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig for a reported deal worth £52 million ($76.69 million).
The 25-year-old already agreed to terms with Chelsea and Todd Boehly in January, only to be allowed to stay with the German club until the end of the season.
He is set to become a blue on July 1st when he will become the first acquisition under the new manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
“I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea,” said Nkunku via Chelsea website.
“A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.”
“Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.”
The forward impressed with 23 goals and 9 assists in 36 appearances for the Bundesliga side at the just-concluded season, which could have earned him a call-up to the national team had he no been injured at the time.
He ended the season as joint-top Bundesliga top scorer this campaign alongside Niclas Fullkrug, scoring 16 goals and providing a further six goals.
