According to reports, Chelsea may be renewing their interest in signing Neymar, as they approach the final stages of talks with the player’s former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues, who were said to be interested in the Brazilian during Abramovich’s era, have long admired Neymar’s abilities.
Since his days at Santos, he has been regarded as one of the best footballers of his generation, showcasing his skill, pace, creativity, and goal-scoring ability from almost anywhere on the pitch.
His attributes have earned him several reputations as a true match-winner and made him a fan favorite worldwide.
In May 2013, Barcelona confirmed signing him from Santos but it has always been about clubs snooping around during his days at Camp Nou, that which did not exceed the capacity of Chelsea and Abramovich even after his big-money transfer in the summer of 2017 to PSG.
Neymar’s current season has been dealt a blow after undergoing surgery on his thigh sustained during PSG’S 1-0 win over Lyon in March. However, Chelsea is said to be interested in signing him if Pochettino completes talks with the club.
It is believed that the two men have a close relationship, with Pochettino having played an instrumental role in convincing Neymar to stay at PSG last year.
Despite the injury setback, Neymar has scored 18 goals and assisted 17 times in 29 games for Paris Saint-Germain across all competitions this season.
Although, his future at the French club remains uncertain, with reports suggesting that PSG may sell him this summer as part of their new internal direction.
The Mirror claims that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly held a meeting earlier this year to inquire about the forward’s availability, so a possible show of interest in Neymar this summer is on the cards.
Of course, nothing is certain until an official announcement is made, and it remains to be seen whether the talks between Chelsea and Pochettino will result in a move for Neymar.
However, if the Brazilian does make the move to Stamford Bridge, it will be one of the biggest transfers in recent memory and could have a massive impact on the Premier League.
